In all the years of playing D2 I have never seen someone come into a game and say, "Wow, I just got a Messerscmidt's Reaver! I'm gonna use that now." Runed words aside, is it that bad of an axe to use?

Probably a PvM Druid or ...Axe Barb.
And there are so many Polearms out there which are better for Druid, and Axe Barb is just... stupid.
More like "I'm not going to waste space im my inventory for this".
I don't believe in 2 handed weps -.-. With no block, a high defence griz zealot can kill you. It's happened to my ik barb -.-. He's further proof while no shield/block is a bad idea! Buuuut hes full IK, so what can ya do ^.^
