I picked up this game over the weekend, and find it both maddening and addictive. It is a space-based RTS with a small fleet of capital ships. Unlike many RTS, you cannot make new units; you are provided with units according to the campain; however, you can customize and upgrade the systems of each of your ships over the course of the game. Destroied units are replaced with same-class units with rookie crews and stock equipment next senario, so the scripted allocation isn't devastating when you take a loss.
I really like the way combat works in this game; battles play out slow, and you really feel that these are massive ships in combat. There are systems to attack shields, systems, and hull (assuming that you equip them) and you can command the ships which strategy to use, or you can controll the weapons (and indeed the shields, support, and engine) systems manually; you can even have each weapon targetting a different ship (though range and facing issues will no-doubt make this a losing strategy).
Only problems I have with this game is that while it starts out easy so you can learn how things work it gets difficult pretty fast, and that it crashes a lot (about 4 times in an 8 hour session).
Has anyone else played this game?
