School starts back up tomorrow.

Finally, after paying off over 1,000 in loans that financial aid would not cover after being withdrawn, I'm finally back into the system and am actually starting school tuesday (finalizing paperwork tomorrow)..

I've still got a very long way to becoming a radiologist.

radiology, dont they study x-rays? Well good luck - my girlie wants to go back to school, and will do a couple of semesters while im in basic training.

There are tons of different forms of careers involving "radiology". What I am starting off in school is a radiologist technician, which essentially just operate the machines that the radiologist use to study it. Hence, I start with this, and then move to the apprenticeship program through where I am hired, and do an additional 4 years of medical schooling, and hopefully will go into cardiac or something of the nature "Radiology".

what year do you think you will begin to reep the benefits of all your hardwork.

Well after I get my bachelors for Radiology Technician I will start at a minimum of 50k a year, which is about double of what I make now, which is pretty good, and it raises every year, additionally with the experience I gain after College my wages will continue to improve, and when my schooling is complete to become a Radiologist I will be making anywhere from 75-90k a year start, possibly more depending on location. Also, if I keep schooling and shadowing specialists to try and become a specialist myself I will be making in the range of 250-300k a year starting, possibly more depending on the specialists group as well as the independant practice. And what's even more beneficial now is my job I am working at now can technically qualify me some experience considering I am working in a "hospital" paperwork enviorment.

So yeah, about 10-12 years or so I could become a specialist.

thats awesome, im going to try and take the 20 year pention plan - see how that goes for me. im not aiming to be well off in any way shape or form in my life. But i like to have things that i want 2000 a month is more then enough to keep me satisfied.

i dont know for sure but your pention depends on your pay and rank while in the military so, if i push myself in there and get ranked high enough to matter i think i could be doing quite well. Being in the military will allow me to save just about every penny i make while in. Should work out nicely for me in the future.

An X-ray technician requires a bachelor's degree? I had always thought that required something on the order of a couple of years of schooling (associates.)

Either way, it's a good field to be in, and it pays incredibly well, even as just a technician. Good choice, IMO.
