Mario v. Samus Aran

In the nature of my great familiarity with video game characters (or at least Nintendo characters), I present to you a great clash.

Sonic, the mascot and champion of Sega
versus
Mario, the long-standing emblem for Nintendo?

I really don't know much about Sonic, but I know much about Mario and his games.

So... WHO THE HECK IS BETTER???

My thoughts exactly. And of the two, are powerups allowed? Because if so give Mario either the fire plant or the star and we will pwn.

Fine then. If Mario gets a star, then Sonic can be Super Sonic.

Power-ups allowed, and to say a few things:
First, the thread is misnamed because I was going to originally make it Mario v. Samus but know nothing about Samus.
And so I decided, "What if the two emblems of Sega and Nintendo beat the living crap out of each other?" So it was changed to Sonic v. Mario.
I would have changed the title if I hadn't forgot.
Second, touche (the E with a little slanty thing over it, you know what I mean) to previous poster with their siggy pic, which was a clip from Clows, which is at weebls-stuff.com
Third, I forgot.
Will the real Flameviper12 please stand up?

I have never played a Crash Bandicoot game in my life, thus...Hey, the only Sonic game I've ever played was Sonic Pinball or something like that. For the Genesis that my uncle had.
However, the only guy I really have a clue about is anyone from Fire Emblem or Mario, and that's about it...
