Left Brained or Right Brained?
Reply
Posted 2007-10-09, 02:33 PM
The average person uses one side of their brain over the other side. In Psychology class we took a test to see which sided each of us were, oddly enough, my results showed that I use both sides of my brain equally. I also took several tests and they all gave similar results... So which are you?

Left Brained -

Logical
Organized
Safe

Right Brained -

Artistic
Risk Taking
Day Dreamers

The dancer is quite cool, being able to change it from clockwise to counter-clockwise.

With the dancer I saw her originally as turning clockwise (but by looking away and imagining her turning the other way I saw anti-clockwise, too):

Quote:
RIGHT BRAIN FUNCTIONS
Quote:
uses feeling
"big picture" oriented
imagination rules
symbols and images
present and future
philosophy & religion
can "get it" (i.e. meaning)
believes
appreciates
spatial perception
knows object function
fantasy based
presents possibilities
impetuous
risk taking
---

And according to the second link:

Quote:
Left brain dominant individuals are more orderly, literal, articulate, and to the point. They are good at understanding directions and anything that is explicit and logical. They can have trouble comprehending emotions and abstract concepts, they can feel lost when things are not clear, doubting anything that is not stated and proven.

Right brain dominant individuals are more visual and intuitive. They are better at summarizing multiple points, picking up on what's not said, visualizing things, and making things up. They can lack attention to detail, directness, organization, and the ability to explain their ideas verbally, leaving them unable to communicate effectively.

Overall you appear to be Left Brain Dominant
---

I reckon I should be more right-brained than left, overall.

I can make the dancer go both ways, although making it go Counter-Clockwise took a little bit of time.

Here's my test from the second link, it turned out exactly how I expected:
Quote:
Right Brain |||||||||||||| 52%
Left Brain |||||||||||||| 52%
*results won't usually add up to 100% as this test measures each side seperately

Left brain dominant individuals are more orderly, literal, articulate, and to the point. They are good at understanding directions and anything that is explicit and logical. They can have trouble comprehending emotions and abstract concepts, they can feel lost when things are not clear, doubting anything that is not stated and proven.

Overall you appear to have fairly Equal Hemispheres

I got her to switch from clockwise to counter-clockwise, but for the life of me, I can't get her to switch back.

Edit: Wait. I got it. That's fucking crazy.

The Similarminds test says I'm 42% right brain and 64% left brain. Left Brain Dominant.

(With 6% extra brain overall. Sweet)

The dancer is cool. My best friend and I got it to the point where if we type original thoughts to each other it changes to counter-clockwise, and when we're done thinking of what to type (even if we are still actually typing) it switches back to clockwise.

I dunno if this is just my mind playing tricks on me or what not, but I tried an experiment:

1. looked at the dancer
2. Started reading the text from the adds on the side of the page, while still watching the dancer in my peripheral vision.
3. Watched to see if she started to spin counter-clockwise.
4. She did.
5. Observed the pictures on the page and the different colors in the pictures, while still watching the dancer.
6. She began turning clock-wise

So it seemed when I was reading and using my left side, she went one way, and when I was observing the colours of the pictures, she turned the other, since I was using my right.

Like I said... could just be all mind games but an interesting experiment at that.

I could consciously make her switch from clockwise to counter clockwise. Usually, looking at the shadow helped me switch it. I had to look away to switch it, though. I couldn't make it switch while looking at it.

I was able to focus on her extended leg when it reaches the apex of the arc on the left side, then consciously switch it from there. I've reached the point where I can do it every time, then I get a headache.
