To my understanding, it is acceptable to put links to personal sites in your signature. The 'register' option just permits you to leave comments on her website, and is in no way really beneficial to her

Its all a matter of opinion. Basically, if it is in their sig, its fine. If some newbie came, and started posting ad's for his/her site all over the boards, he/she would be banned. If it is a distinguished, regular member, and no profit would be made from it, we generally let it go.
