damn 18 minute fuckplanet waiting line!!!

Sometimes I really question the waiting lines, could fileplanet just fake the waiting lines and make you wait for about 20 minutes just so you will consider getting a subscribtion because your tired of waiting all the time?

It's possible. I don't see why they couldn't. Has anyone read the ToS agreement you agree to when you make an account? They might even mention it in there.

Three more hours of work... SUx

Once, I went to download something at fileplanet, and there were actually multiple public servers with about 3/4 capacity (ie. no wait to take a slot). It just depends on when. I'm sure that they restrict the growth of the number of public servers to promote wait times, however.

Well, when the Doom 3 demo comes out, I'm expecting a 7 hour wait.

You need to be able to accept incoming requests. The whole point of the bittorrent system is that you get a faster DL, because everyone consuming the download bandwidth is providing it to others, so the number of downloaders has little effect on the download speed. In order to keep people honest, the BitTorrent server, which orchestrates all this peer2peer sharing, only allows you to download as fast as you upload, plus some offset. If you're behind a firewall, it can hinder others' ability to get connections to you, and so since the server thinks you're snubbing them, it snubs you.

So, you need to forward the appropriate range of ports (6881-6889) at the firewall, if you want good downloads.
