more on-topic, slave owners shouldn't be blamed for anything. the way i look at it is, early on it was rare to see another race, and how many settlers in america had seen africans at that time? how do you know they didn't really think of them as people (like they were). if you ask me, that's not opression as much as it is culture shock or whatever you'd like to call it.

In certain colonies, the slave population heavily outnumbered the free population. Africa was robbed of it's natural and human resources. That has never happend to an entire continent before.
