You never found the Boots of Blinding Speed? There's a traveling merchant west of Caldera that would be happy to part with them in exchange for an escort, or cold steel across her neck.

Yeah I had them, but you cant see anything when you use them, so then you would have stop, look at the map adjust your direction and walk again. Pretty annoying, especially if while running those damn birds (cant remember their name, its been a while ) come and chase you .

That's why you get an item that gives you magic resistance, or you play as an orc or bretton, and they're called cliff racers. BTW, you can make the map always visible by clicking the box in the title bar while in menu mode.
