Now if memory serves, the forum was popular because there were hacks for people to flock to....

Yes, it was popular for all the wrong reasons. Hacks do not make a community, just a large group of whiners.

The problem is that it creates a very immature and temporary "community" who really only care about the files provided. They wouldn't stick around if we had to remove the hacks for some reason (I.E. a lawsuit by Blizzard and they have gone after hack sites in the past)

Not really a "community", just a bunch of moochers.
