Was he really as big of a hero that the enigmatic protoss race makes him out to be. Should the devout zelaots be saing Entaro Tassadar instead of Entaro Adun. lets break it down

It was late in the war between the Ravenous Zerg Swarm and the technologically advanced protoss race. The overmind had landed on Auir and was mounting a full scale assault on the Protoss Homeworld. Now imagine you are in the finl battle. You see tassadars mighty ship directly on a colision course with the overmind that has embedded itself in teh surface of Aiur.

Now here is where the debate comes in. Could tassadar have saved himself? Youd think that a space-faring race, wiht the ability to manipulate the very essence of the space-time continum would have an autopilot on one of there most powerful capital ships.

For a brief time i thought that this guy just commited suicide sencelessly, that he could have saved himself. but then i forgot one thing, he had to channel dark templar energies to defeat the overmind, as thats the only way that it could be killed. So it turns out that Tassadar is really a hero, and that he had to commit this self righteous suicide.

Did anybody else think this way. And if they did, did anything that i just state change your mind on the Late Templar Tassadar?

Only one thing is. He aint no dark templar. How can a high templar do something that only Dark Templar can do.
I think protoss honor is a system to cover up their foolishness.

I never actually played the original but if i remember correctly, only dark templar energy could destroy the overmind. And tassadar did exasctly that, channeled the energy, when he collided his ship, and himself with the overmind.

First off all, Tassadar was the only Protoss, who has learned to use the energies of the high- und the dark-templar together!
The second thing is, that his ship was heavily damaged by 2 Mutalisks.
And because he didn`t want more of his brethren to get killed by the Zerg he wanted to kill the Overmind on his own.
I think because of this he was a real hero!

My personal thoughts...

Yes, his ship was taking heavy damage from Mutas, but nothing that the shields couldn't cover up, or that another Carrier could've taken care of.

However, I believe that with his skill with both Templar AND DT energies, he could've stood outside his ship and channeled the DT energies into his body and then through the ship, so that it would've destroyed the Overmind AND left Tassadar still standing alive (albeit heavily damaged, this plan would require him to basically jump ship a few seconds before it hit the Overmind...)
