Actually... if they were smart they would do there best to prevent maphack as that is the major cause of all the duped items. Dont see how? Lemme explain, the game came out a while back no one had anything worth a shit to dupe and no one did 10000000 mf runs a day cause it toook way to long. Then mousepad released his maphack, that allowed people to many many more runs a day and in turn get wf's and gf's and shit like that to dupe. Without maphack, id be willing to bet the economy would be more stable then it is right now.
Ever heard of pindlebot ? I would think that would be reason for screwed up economy, not maphack.
