My proposal is not to make spells do less damage, its to decrease their maximum damage and increase minimum if you didn't already read. I prefer to be self-sufficient and not carry around potions everywhere I go, its just another thing to worry about, and usually your opponent will quit or run away everytime you cast, which i don't blame them. Do you really like things to be so random in combat? There have been so many times I know I should have killed someone but for some reason spell randomization decided to play against me and only do 12 damage. Then its their turn to dump, and spell randomization decides to play with them and one spell kills me from 45 hp. I'm not saying that spell randomization never worked for me, I just believe it would make PvP a whole lot more strategical and interesting when you don't always have to predict and consider that their next spell may kick your ass.
