Virtual Boy

Am I the only person that actually liked this thing? Yeah, the graphics were nauseating, yeah it was uncomfortable to use over extended periods of time. But, it had some pretty damn good games on it. Technoroboxer, Mario Tennis, Red Alarm and Galactic Pinball were all badass. It certainly wasn't worth the launch price of $175, but Blockbuster started selling them for $20 about six months after they were released, and I'd definitely say 20 bucks was a fair price.

It made me too ill to play for more than 15 minutes at a time.

The games (out of the ones I've tried) were fairly entertaining, but what's the point of a system if you feel like puking after less than half an hour of gameplay? That just about destroys any entertainment value it might retain. Along with the fact you have to lie on your stomach to play it. Bleh.

It was a bad concept in the first place and it quickly fizzled out as a bad idea would. However, the creator of the Virtual Boy, Gunpei Yokoi, was also the creator of Metroid so I give him honor and respect for that.

It was an attempt to revolutionize the gaming/console industry. It was a concept that existed before its time. It could be done now a lot better. But its just risky.
