I've even heard quotes from people's journals that believed they were doing Africans favors by enslaving us. Bullshit. Unless the receiving party considers it a favor, I don't consider it a favor.

you did not live in the age of slavery, therefore, do not try to press any of that bullshit. you have the same rights and privilages as everyone else in this country if you work hard enough to get it.

more on-topic, slave owners shouldn't be blamed for anything. the way i look at it is, early on it was rare to see another race, and how many settlers in america had seen africans at that time? how do you know they didn't really think of them as people (like they were). if you ask me, that's not opression as much as it is culture shock or whatever you'd like to call it.

also, get educated and realize that the african race was not the first race to have members of it turned into slaves. slavery has been around for a long, long, time. do not take all the fucking glory.
