Do you feel that unsafe in your neighborhood that you need to find another gun with the gun you already have? I live in the city and I dont have a gun accessible in the house, if i felt unsafe I would though..
I decided to stop reading your second guessing and find out for myself...
Any person 21 years of age or older may apply in writing to the clerk of the circuit court of the county or city in which he resides, or if he is a member of the United States Armed Forces, the county or city in which he is domiciled, for a five-year permit to carry a concealed handgun. There shall be no requirement regarding the length of time an applicant has been a resident or domiciliary of the county or city. [blah blah blah I get my concealed weapon permit]
Oh ya, and for you Kaneda:
E. The following persons shall be deemed disqualified from obtaining a permit:
[ 1- 7 ]
8. An individual who is addicted to, or is an unlawful user or distributor of, marijuana or any controlled substance.
Of course this is only state law in the state of Virginia, but I'm sure many other states have very similar conditions.
The local constabulary won't let us renew our gun license until we get a new cabinet for the shotguns. Apparently there's some new regulation. They don't seem to mind about the air rifle propped up against my bookcase.
Out of interest, how many guns do you have Adrena?
I highly doubt they hand out those permits to every that applys for one. I really couldn't know for shure though could I? If section E. was about controlled substances I'm sure there are many other restrictions for obtaining one.

There were, I didn't figure I'd post them all. If you aren't flagged under any of those circumstances, though, they can't deny you the permit, unless they have some good reason that's not on the list of 20+ different reasons why one shouldn't have a permit for a concealed weapon.
2 or more misdomeanors within the past three years is one.
Says five on the site but that is out of date from what I understand.
EVERYONE who applies for one will be granted the concealed carry permit UNLESS they violate those reasons. Which are very clear.
I should be ok though I do have alot of misdomeanors but I'm pretty sure they were more than three years ago, they will inform me at the time of application.
Lenny I now own three guns.
Chinese SKS 7.62x39
Springfield Mil-Spec M1911A1 .45 Caliber Automatic Colt Pistol (ACP)
Springfield XD40 Subcompact .40 Caliber Smith & Wesson (S&W)

If you do not have a concealed weapons permit the weapon has to be in plain sight. However (I live in kentucky which is very pro-gun, mind you) my brother has his permit and can carry concealed weapons on him as long as it's not to a school or government facility and there's NOTHING ANYONE CAN DO ABOUT IT :P. He has a .40 cal glock also, as well as a ar15, ak47, and some others. It's also perfectly legal to own a machinegun or fully automatic assault rifle/sub machine gun if it's pre-assault weapons ban treaty and you have your lisensce to use them ...which costs thousands of dollars.
Adios .
My brother assault rifles are semi-auto, however it's possible to "bump fire" them to make them fully auto, well, practically ...but it's just a waste of ammo anyways.
