CNN Predicts PS3 Price at $500

ive seen nerds arguing online about what its going to be like. shit like 2x 20gb harddrives*LAWL* and and builtin infrared ports shit like that. chances are if its like that its going to be as faulty as my X360. i get crashes and shit like that all the time and so many freezing games

I found this a while back. I don't know trustworthy it is, but it's worth a look (because it took me a while to dig it up).

The final specifications haven't been given out yet but this is what we know so far: Capable of running at speeds beyond 4 GHz. Memory bandwidth: 25.6 GBytes per second. I/O bandwidth: 76.8 GBytes per second. 256 GFLOPS (Single precision at 4 GHz). 256 GOPS (Integer at 4 GHz). 25 GFLOPS (Double precision at 4 GHz). 235 square mm. 235 million transistors. Power consumption has been estimated at 60 - 80 Watts at 4 GHz for the prototype but this could change in the production version. Chip manufacturing is a complex process and the chips that appear at the end of the production line vary in capabilities and some have errors. While they can go higher, because of the vagaries of manufacturing, economics and heat dissipation the Cell which will be used in the PS3 is clocked at 3.2 GHz and will have only 7 SPEs. Cells with 6 SPEs will be used in consumer electronics.

It's also said, ever so nearly confirmed, that it will run at 120fps.

We can only wait for the PS3 conferences in a month or two for, hopefully, final specs and a release date and price to be confirmed.

yeah i bet you would just to say that you have the newest sony gaming console it doesnt really matter to you what the specs are as long as it has a sony emblem on it.

Guess what I just got guys! I bought myself an old Rover 400. You'll never guess how much I paid for it! £50grand! It's worth it though, it's got a Sony badge on it.

It's been predicted the PS3 will cost Sony about $800 per piece to make. Stock dropped after this news.

I loved that bit of news. Showed up on PS3 Portal, then 3 hours later, an article popped up with Sony denying it all!

They exect to lose about $300 on each console, don't they?
