Look at the Horde-specific quests and the Alliance-specific quests, and you'll see that while the Alliance is busy with in-fighting, the horde is busy saving the world. Yet people still have this odd picture of the Alliance as the saviors of Azeroth and the Horde as mindless barbarians.

Pshh, much more alliance have defeated Dragons, Huge Eyes, Lichs, ogre dragon slayers, and so forth in the name of azeroth! . Admittedly I haven't leveled a horde though.

The alliance are the bad guys. Most people don't know this. Arguing against that just makes you look dumb.
I'd like Goku from DBZ to deliver it ...and then subsequently purge the world of dumb people!

True in most cases except the Forsaken. Tauren are probably the most "good" race available in the World of Warcraft, which may simply stem from lack of backstory on them.
