Pretty much. It's essentially done for acceptance, and continues as they've essentially brainwashed themselves into thinking it's cool, perpetuating the cycle.

Well, not really. He called in when I worked for Dish because none of his 6 HD Receivers were dialing out to our system to offload their Pay Per View purchases. If I remember correctly, they all had their own telephone line too...

I couldn't help him, had to have him call his phone company. It was kinda funny to have POVICH MAURY / CHUNG CONNIE pop up on my screen. My boss actually tapped in and put the call on speakerphone so the rest of my team could listen in.
