This is old sorry guys but I'm wondering how much of the side quests I should do is there many major awards for it? Or should I just stick to the main story?

I haven't played through the entire game, but the reason I stopped playing was because I was such a completionist and tried to do all of the available side quests before continuing the story. There isn't much reward for them and they are INCREDIBLY repetative.

Is it worth buying the weapons and armour from the merchants or Can you just find good weapons and armour in the battle grounds?

From what I've gathered from a housemate (he was playing it throughout the whole of last term), everything you need is picked up as you explore - shops are pretty pointless. He spent a lot of his time swapping to the higher spec'd weapons and armour that he picked up on his travels. Don't think I ever saw him buy anything.

A common thing in games. Happens in RPGs pretty often, too. As long as you keep leveled, and know what you're doing, just grab whatever you find and put that on. Shops? Who needs 'em!?
