Need some homework music advice

When I'm doing homework, I like to have some sort of background noise, but the TV tends to be annoying and distracting sometimes. I zone out a lot if it's completely quiet, so I need something. Do any of you find that certain types of music work better than others, or that certain bands are better for homework than others?

Anything with beats will generally interrupt my thoughts, so I tend to listen to Ambient, Ambient Techno or Dark Ambient when I need to concentrate.

While at work, I basicly listen to music constantly. What I listen to depends on my mood and varies throughout the day. Also, it's important to listen to stuff that you've listened to a ton already so it doesn't completely distract you from your work. I find that it's okay if I periodicly pay more attention to the music than my work, because ultimately, it prevents me from doing something else and becoming completely distracted.

I tend to get distracted by good songs, by I've learned to drown them out and yet still enjoy them. But sometimes when I just can't concentrate, I'll put on Anime ost's or classical music

I honestly can't remember the last time I did homework at home (obviously having left Sixth Form in May for my last exams would have played a part, but before that we were rarely given homework, and any that we were given I completed in my frees when I didn't have any money for the Pool table), but if I'm programming I'll have my whole collection playing at random - I can go from Rimsky-Korsakov to Kings of Leon to The Lancashire Hotpots. If I need to really concentrate, though, then I do it in silence. Otherwise, I can listen to anything I've got and be able to work though, like WW, what I do listen to and not skip depends on my mood.

As a general thing, soft, Classical music is thought to be the best music to listen to when working.

Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov is a famous Russian composer. One of his most easily recognisable works is The Flight of the Bumblebee. He also wrote my favourite symphonic suite - Scheherazade.

The Lancashire Hotpots are a local band.

And Kings of Leon are a very successful American band from Tennessee. You have no excuse for not hearing of them. Their lastest single is Sex on Fire.
