On my friends computer, whenever I try to d/l a zip file, say for a maphack for s/c, it downloads and then all it is, is a bunch of shit slapped onto notepad. How can I fix this so that it actually show the real zipfile, or such.

I suppose,

Try going in a folder, go to 'tools' then 'folder options' then go to file types and assign *.zip to winRAR or winZip.

Another thing is when you right click on a file, there should be an "Open With" option that you can pick and then select the program you want to open it with.

Right now it sounds like the machine has had .zip associated with Notepad, which is very weird, as even on a newly loaded machine, zip files have no association until you associate a program with them or install one.

If the open with option doesn't show up when you right click on the file, try holding down shift while you right click.

Yes I meant reinstall the operating system. Heh, couldn't think of the term...So ya I'll give that shit a shot when I head over there. BTW what sqrl was talking about w/ the "open with" when you right click. When you d/l a program what should you open it w/ anyway? Or does it depend?

It depends on the file. Winzip or another archive program for .zip
