Alexander (Not Yet Released)

It looks like it's going to be a really good movie, and I'm definitely looking forward to watching it. I'm interested to see how Colin Farrel handles a roll of this magnitude, since it is a lot different than all his other roles, and there have been such good actors playing similar types of roles (Pitt, Gibson, Crowe, and Cruise most notably).

There is a banging cast though:

Colin Farrel
Angelina Jolie
Anthony Hopkins
Val Kilmer

Looks like another good one coming this year. Can't wait. Check it out here:

Look who's talking...

Anyway, Hopkins and Farrel are awesome actors, and Kilmer and Jolie are definitely good, Kilmer more than Jolie though. It should be awesome.

Kilmer more than Jolie...*one eyebrow up*... and Farrel is not an awesome actor...it's Hopkins, Jolie, Kilmer and Farrel tie...

Farrel has played much better parts in his relatively short acting career than Jolie ever has. I just can't stop thinking about her in Tomb Raider, nonetheless to get past her being an "A" caliber actress, which she is not. Not many people can say they've outshined the "starring actor" of a movie, especial when that person is Tom Cruise (Minority Report, many have said this). It's just my opinion, but I think Farrel is probably the best (as of right now) actor in that list of actors/actresses. The others are more distinguished, but Farrel has been on a roll lately with movies. He's a hot comodity in Hollywood.

Better than Jolie...better than Jolie!!!omg...I have a lot of ppl I could find to back me up that he is NOT better than Jolie!!!

Farell makes it because he's a pretty face and the surround him w/ shit actors his first few movies so that ppl will get it in there head that he's good and start thinking "hey why don't they put him up w/ the big time actors?" so they do and thus ppl like you are born into the world...

No big time actors?

His first big role was American Outlaws, immediately followed, in order, by Hart's War (Bruce Willis), Minority Report (Tom Cruise), Phone Booth (Forest Whitaker and Keifer Sutherland), The Recruit (Al Pacino), Daredevil (Ben Affleck), then SWAT (Samuel Jackson)

Yeah, no big time actors there...

Opposed to Jolie's last 30 movies:
Ethan Hawk, Edward Burns, Antonio Banderas, Jon Voight, Nicholas Cage, Denzel Washington, Billy Bob Thornton, Sean Connery, and Dennis Quaid.

Honestly, I'd say Farrel has not only been in the same movie with big time "A" list actors, but he's had experience with better actors.

American Outlaws: "lets put him in a crap movie, with crap actors so the public will want more of this pretty faced "action/western star"
Hart's War (Bruce Willis), Minority Report (Tom Cruise), Phone Booth (Forest Whitaker and Keifer Sutherland), The Recruit (Al Pacino), Daredevil (Ben Affleck), then SWAT (Samuel Jackson)

this works for the public and the directors and casting folks call up little hottie and ask if he'll be in their movie so millions of teens will flock to the box office and waist their money on that cute face...
the movies get better because he's getting more money and the actors get better for the better movies and to make him look better...that's how it's going to be...he over plays it and the good actors (Willis,Pacino, and Jackson) can even that out...because they know...they are trained to handle that...it's their job.

Well, if that "cute face" made a complete flop, they wouldn't consistently pair him up with top of the line actors and cool movies with great plots now would they? My guess is he is doing something right.

This is definitely a guy's perspective, but I'd much rather see a movie that deals with some sort of cool character like he constantly plays over Jolie and her Tomb Raider/ Life or Something Like It garbage parts...

Farrel has been in more blockbusters (Already, yes) than Jolie, and has hence distinguished himself over her. I guess any argument I make is my opinion vs. yours, and that is fine. You like Jolie, I like Farrel as an actor. Your logic just seems a little skewed. Well, very skewed, since he is already proclaimed an "A" rate actor, even more so than Ethan Hawk, Edward Burns, Antonio Banderas, and Billy Bob Thornton, which is over half of Jolie's great supporting actor roles.

Edit:
Ugh, after re-reading your post, I honestly have no idea what you are trying to convey with your, "that's how it's going to be...he over plays it and the good actors (Willis,Pacino, and Jackson) can even that out...because they know...they are trained to handle that...it's their job." statement. Mind elaborating on this?

I like the combo of actors, maybe Farrel is not so much in the mix but maybe he will change my mind

Escape From New York was a classic, Captain Ron was genius, and Big Trouble In Little China owns everything. Not to mention Tombstone, Breakdown, 3000 Miles To Graceland, Stargate, Backdraft and The Thing. Kurt Russel is The Man.

I have to disagree with you on that one. That movie was fantastic. One of the only good parts Kevin Costner has ever had.
