Help Pls!! Refresh Rate = Unbootable Monitor
Reply
Posted 2004-12-19, 04:05 AM
A friend told me if I set the refresh rates in the settings from 60 to 100 that my games would run smoother... The only thing this did was make my monitor not boot up when I turn the computer on... Is anything damaged ? Or do I just have to change the rates back somehow without a monitor? And if so how do I do this.

Thanks

Best thing to do it keep the box that says 'Hide modes my monnitor cannot support' checked.

And choose the maximum it can support.

The maximum isn't always the optimum. For instance, my monitor goes up to 140, but it can only display that at 640x480

Did you try going into safe mode and changing the settings back?

Have you tried unplugging the monitor? With no power, it can't save it's settings..

The setting is stored on the computer, not the monitor

Not on the newer monitors. I have this monitor which saves all its settings. IIt has many cool features. One I just found out recently is, it can also turn into the batmobile. I got in and rode it around my neighborhood for a while showing off my new monitor. Then we started to fly. Then we came back, it turned into a monitor and I started working on my computer again. But the most impressive feature is it can definitely save its settings. Although, I don't know, the fact that it can turn into a batmobile comes pretty close.

Actually when you unplug a monitor and it is plugged back into the power and into the computer your monitor which saves its own settings will be reset. They will be put back to the default settings, the only thing you save on your computer is what type of monitor it is, the refresh settings, and display changes back when the settings are reset.
