Getting into shape

Summers coming, and I want to start getting into shape.

Any tips on what to eat, any outdoor activities that are recommended (for solo play only, I don't have multiplayer capabilities here) or just tips in general?

I've been losing weight pretty rapidly, and I want to continue doing so and get some more muscle.

So, basically, this is going to be you?

Don't worry, you'll be back to normal soon enough.

Just lift a lot of weights and run/ride bike. Or you could start playing basketball.

Workout:
Lifting weights if you want buff up, this varies for everyone, I'm sure that if you go to a gym they can advise you on what to do and how to do it.
If you strictly want to go outdoors and dont really care for being buff, like MJ said, run/ride bike and maybe tennis.

Food:
Lots of protein, for example: chicken, eggs, fish, milk and protein shakes/bars.
Generally you need about 2 gramms of protein for every kilo you weigh to grow. I weigh 71 kilo's so I usually eat/drink around 140-150 gramms of protein a day.

Well I used to weigh about 290 and dropped down to 170, recently I have put on about 30 pounds or more of muscle.
I reccomend getting yourself nonfat / lowfat snacks, such as yogurt and lowfat chips for after-dinner snacks. When you eat in a certain time period before going to bed or just sitting down at home waiting to go to bed, watching tv, it all just turns to fat. Cut fast food out of your diet if you haven't already.
Start eating salads, they can be really good. Most people think "Eww salad!", try a Chicken Ceasar salad or something. Fruit is always a good idea as well.

How much do you weigh now?
Lifting your own body weight helps a lot too, free weights can be good as well. Stay away from machine weights whenever possible. Try doing crunches, keep your head pointing up when doing so, when you go up squeeze your stomach muscles together really hard to maximize the effect, you'll lose the gut in no time. Pushups can help with the upper body strength, for the past few months at work I have been doing 250 - 300 pushups every night at work, in reps of 25-50, all the way down and all the way up.

Just do what you can, and try increasing that after a week or week and a half after you start. Keep pushing yourself to make new limits.

This entry may sound a little scattered ... I just woke up. If you need clarification / more tips, you have my AIM.

Maybe tonight we'll fly so far away... We'll be lost before the dawn...

Remember that protein will be evil if you are not active enough.

Running, and lots of it. It's the single best way to lose weight. I typically run 8-10 miles a day, 5 days a week. Although my eating habits aren't the healthiest, I make up for it with insane workouts. Situps and pushups when you wake up and before you go to bed will help with definition, too.

I'm going to start doing crunches when I get up and before I go to sleep as part of a routine, and do them during the day as well. I like going for long walks, but don't have much opportunity to do so here, I live on a busy 55 MPH road.

Walking is a good start. Move up to jogging after a week or two, then to running. If you go slow it will be less painful

WHERE TEH FUCK R U GETTING THIS FROM?????? protein is the best macronutrient you can have retard, even if you ate protein alone you would burn more fat because it takes more calories to digets protein than it does for other things. Kthxbye

grav, just eat 6 small meals a day (around 30g protein each) , do soem exercise and you'll be in your way.

If you wanna get technical about it, multiply ur weight times 15 , the number u get is the amount of calories u should consume in a day, for best fat burning and muscle building results , 40% of your calories should come from protein, 40% from carbs and 20% from fats. thats 40/40/20 , Each gram of carbohydrates contains 3.75 calories. Each gram of fat contains 9 calories,Each gram of protein contains 4 calories,Each gram of alcohol contains 7 calories.

Do the math

I have recently been excited about playing Rugby the past month and a half, so I have been going to my local gym and lifting w/ my brother. Im not really worried about weight, because my brother weighed a good 240 at the beginning of the summer 2-3 years ago, and at the end weighed 160, and all he did was focus on protein and eating right. The thing is, if you have high protein, your muscles will last longer. You will find it SO easy to go longer and the longer you go running or lifting, the more fat you burn. That is basically the rule I have been following although i have been slipping a bit I do see a little muscle formation in my left arm and a little more in my right mainly due to jerking off.

What I can give though:

Buy some creatine, buy a gym-pass. Lift weights as much as possible, before doing so have a water of Creatine mixed with the correct grams. Focus HARD on what you eat, and most of all, excersize. Even if you barely focus on what you eat, but focus TONS on excersizing and lifting weights, you can still do well, if not, then you can do excellent.

My plan:

Lose 40-80 lbs this summer. I weigh 215. I have been lifting since 2nd grade with my brother(who was my age when I was in 2nd grade), and I have always been the 'top of the line lifter' in my school. I do NOT plan to lose that title.

My influences:

My brother, he has done it, I KNOW i can succede with tons of hard work.
My father, He would be so happy if I come out to CA july 7th and he sees me weighing even 20 lbs lighter.
My social life, I will have more respect.

Think of the things you care about most, and we can both succede.

Eat whatever you want Grav, just dont eat late at night, or within a few hours before you sleep.

You shouldn't have to be all hardcore like IRON DFD over there.. just do a few crunches and pushups every other night or so untill you get strong enough to do more without hurting yourself.

Getting a job in the construction industry is a good way to keep active... lol

I'm a roofer...
Ever carried one hundred and fifty or so 80 pound bundles of shingles up a 40 foot ladder? I have .. lol every carried a forty foot ladder?... I do very little excersize at home cause I work so hard...

I've been there less than a month and they already want me to start working as a supervisor. May take them up on it too, seeing as how it would triple my paycheck and get me out of the union...

You cant just lift as much as you can every day and think it's going to work... Rest is about as important as the workout itself.

I agree with DFD, machine weights arent good. What you may want to try when doing situps is take some weight, put that in your hands behind your head, and start doing situps, you will definitly feel the burn alot quicker.

Buy some protein powder to make shakes, preferably of Whey protein.

Just one more thing, Eat breakfast like a king and dinner like a pauper.
Meaning that it's better to take the larger meals early during the day. Diner should be your smallest meal of the day. Besides diner dont eat anything in the evening.

I've found that if you cut starches out of your diet that you will lose both weight and appetite. In the beginning you're always really hungry, so plan on eating lots of steaks and huge salads, but after your body gets used to not being amped on sugar, you quickly become used to as little as a cup of juice for breakfast, a diet frozen dinner (I eat life choice ones because they're all just meat and veggies) for lunch, and a salad with meat in it for dinner. Coupled with a good amount of physical activity (I play Para Para Paradise 3 times a week for about 2 hours), you lose a good amount of weight. Speaking of all this, I really need to get back to it; I started letting starches back into my diet in January, and I have no energy now unless I've just consumed sugar--it sucks.
