I am quite humbled to be considered for the Moderator position, because to me it shows that you respect me enough to enforce rules. I would appreciate the positions, but I would like to point out the pro's and con's of my candidacy(sp?).
I agree I would make a good moderator, due to the fact that I seem to be one of the few members that understands not to take anything personally here. I am on a steady amount, although not nearly as active as some of the other members, and I pay attention to a majority of the forums. I believe I have good grammar and I spell well. I have a rare ability to take on multiple points of views of almost any given situation, and form my own judgements with a little room to vary in degrees of intensity. I understand what subjects need to be left alone, which need further exploration, and which are complete and anything following is more than likely unrelated or unnecessary. Because I view many of the active members here as friends, I feel that I can help them to reach an understanding should a conflict break out; I wouldn't be able to choose one friend over another. And, if elected, I would make a few changes, starting with the way people handle beefs.
And while the positve side may persuade you to vote in favor of me, I feel there are some negative things that should be pointed out. First of which is there may be a period of inactivity from me, due to me sharing a family computer at the moment. With 2 brothers, a sister-in-law and parents all trying to get on at different times, it could be who knows how long before I get on. Sometimes, one of my brothers likes to race to it, and he'll be on it all night, and he repeats this 3 or 4 nights in a row. Another thing, is that because I am not as well acquainted with some newer members, I may be unintentionally biased towards either party. One other thing that I feel needs to be adressed. In order to lead, you can't be friends with those you are leading. You can be friendly, but when your friendship starts to interfere with your duty, one of them falls apart.
Now, I know some of you may be reading this and thinking, "Dude, you are taking this way too serious," but I feel that something as important as moderator shouldn't be viewed as 'fun'. That's not saying you can't have fun being a moderator, but there are times when you need to act in a serious manner, and if you never take your duty serious, how can your serious actions be viewed as such?
Now, to cast my vote, I would like to re-elect Yawgmoth, for the reasons that Chruser has stated. He is unfamiliar with anyone here or how things operate, and if change is going to happen, it is going to come from someone who is unfamiliar with the way things work. I feel that when he returns, if he ever decides to, that he may be granted a moderator position again. Especially with the upcoming wave of Diablo 3 fanatics that are expected.
Besides him though, I think Thanatos or Willkillforfood would be good moderators. They seem pretty levelheaded, and have been here a while. They have also shown intelligence and knowledge of the English language, which seems to be something that is lacking here as of late. So, in my parting words, I leave you with the following chants:
THAN'S THE MAN TO BANISH SPAM!
and
WILLKILL WILL THRILL!
I know... it's cheesy... but all campaign slogans are...
